Kilberry Valley Primary School FAQ's

Kilberry Valley Primary School FAQ’s

Q: Why do the school gates open at 8:45am?

A: Staff commence yard duty and student supervision from 8:45am. Opening the gates at this time ensures all students on site are safely supervised, supporting our duty of care and providing a calm, welcoming start to the school day

Q: What time does the school day begin?

A: The school day begins at 9:00am, with supervised yard duty from 8:45am.

Q: I need to get to work and 8:45am is too late to drop my child off. What can I do?

A: Kilberry Valley Primary School offers before-school care through TheirCare, an onsite provider. This service supports families who require earlier drop-off options and may be subsidised depending on eligibility. Families are encouraged to contact TheirCare directly to discuss suitable arrangements.

Q: How do I access the school if my child attends TheirCare?

A: Registered families are given a secure access code to enter the school before and after school during TheirCare hours. This ensures children are safely supervised while attending the program.

Q: What if I enter the school outside TheirCare hours?

A: Access codes are for TheirCare hours only. This is so we can ensure every student is supervised and safe. The school is monitored by security systems, so entering outside approved times is discouraged.

Q: What time can families enter the school grounds in the afternoon?

A: Gates open at 3:10pm for pick-up. After-school yard duty runs from 3:15pm to 3:30pm, after which gates close. This schedule ensures a safe and orderly end to the school day for every child.

Q: Where should I wait when picking up my child?

A: Families are asked to wait outside classrooms, not in hallways, to minimise disruptions and allow students to finish their learning in a calm, safe environment.

Q: Can I or my younger child use the school toilets while waiting?

A: For student safety, toilets are for Kilberry Valley students only. If there is an urgent need, please visit the front office where staff can help safely.

Q: What parking options are available?

A: Families may use:

  • 5-minute drop-off/pick-up zones along Kilberry Boulevard (council-managed)
  • Parking near the wetlands off Kilberry Drive
  • Street parking along Warana Drive

Q: What if my child is late to school?
A: If your child arrives after 9:00am, a parent or carer must accompany them to the front office to sign them in with an administration staff member, provide a reason for the late arrival, and collect a late pass before your child goes to class. This supports accurate attendance records and student safety.

Q: What if I need to collect my child early?
A: If your child needs to be collected before 3:15pm, please go to the front office and speak with an administration staff member. Your child will need to be signed out and a reason for early collection provided so we can maintain accurate records and ensure student safety.

Thank you for supporting our shared responsibility to keep Kilberry Valley Primary School a safe, calm, and welcoming environment for all students.
